Where to stay….

There are several great regions to play golf at the highest level in SE Asia, so here we break down a few favorite places where you can stay to get the best out of your vacation.

Thailand:

Thailand has a variety of wonderful areas to stay and play. With 28 courses Pattaya has to be on the list, so here are Asia GOLF & More’s recommendations.

1. 1. 1. Central Pattaya: Known for its bustling nightlife and vibrant atmosphere.
      2. Jomtien and Na Jomtien: Offers a more relaxed and family-friendly environment. It suits couples who love golf and want to avoid the crowds of nightlife.
      3. Naklua, Wong Amat, and North Pattaya: A charming and peaceful area north of Pattaya Beach. Popular with European golfers.
      4. Pratamnak Hill: A scenic spot, sometimes called the Beverly Hills of Pattaya.
         
         

Thailand’s largest island Phuket offers a variety of areas for every golfer with family-friendly beaches, secluded luxury getaways, or vibrant nightlife, Phuket has it all.

1. Kata and Kuta: Stunning beaches, great surfing, and family-friendly. It is not too far from the courses and main entertainment areas.
2. Bang Tao: Beautiful with excellent all-inclusive golf resorts.
3. Patong: Known for its lively nightlife, bars, and cabaret shows, Patong is the most popular area for buddy trips.
4. Phuket Old Town: A mix of history and charm. There are the most boutiques, awarded restaurants, and holistic activities in this area.

Hua Hin, once the preferred getaway of Bangkok royalty and elite, remains a popular seaside resort less than three hours south of Bangkok.

1. Central Hua Hin – this area offers a mix of hotels. You’ll find more than lazy beach days here – explore the night market, visit temples, and enjoy bars and restaurants.
2. Hua Hin Beach – For a proper beach break, head here and you’ll find hotels and resorts right along the shoreline.
3. Khao Takiab – Serene and Scenic Khao Takiab offer a quieter escape. The Cicada Market is nearby, known for its artsy vibe and delicious street food.
4. Pranburi – If you seek tranquility, consider Pranburi. It’s far from central Hua Hin but offers a peaceful escape. Banayan and Black Mountain are also nearby.

Vietnam:

Vietnam has a long coastline and offers golfers a variety of great destinations and perhaps the number one choice with eight great courses is the coastal region of Danang and close by the ancient UNESCO CITY OF Hoi An.

1. 1. 1. 1. My Khe Beach: Enjoy beachfront resorts and stunning ocean views up and down the coast from Danang to Hoi An.
         2. Hoi An Old Town: Immerse yourself in the UNESCO World Heritage Site, with photogenic streets, historic architecture, and local restaurants.
         3. Han River, Downtown Danang: Ideal for riverside hotels and proximity to the city center.
         4. Son Tra Peninsula: For a tranquil escape with lush greenery and panoramic vistas, Son Tra is best. However, allow 1-2 hours to reach the golf courses.

Vietnam’s Northeast coast comprises Haiphong to Halong Bay. The former is a bustling port city, while the latter is a mesmerizing natural wonder. Haiphong City boasts several golf clubs and Vietnam’s infamous nightlife areas. Flights into and out of Haiphong make for easy onward connections.

         2. Cat Ba Island: Comfortable stay on the largest inhabited island with stunning views and one of the region’s newest golf courses.

Cambodia:

Cambodia is an up-and-coming golfer’s destination with around ten first-class courses.

Phnom Penh, an exciting and budget-friendly travel destination, offers diverse neighborhoods for golfing visitors.

         2. Daun Penh: Perfect for golf tourists, home to must-see attractions, museums, and markets.

Siem Reap’s big attraction is the incredible Angkor Wat and its three top-class courses.

1. 1. 1. 1. Old French Quarter is the best area where to stay in Siem Reap! This central neighborhood has many restaurants and some of the top attractions in the city.

The Philippines:

The Philippines is perhaps not on the top of the list, however, areas such as Clark are becoming popular with international vacationers and is located in the Central Luzon region of the country.

         2. Mimosa Leisure Estate: Mimosa is known for its lush greenery, golf courses, and casino. It’s an excellent place for relaxation.
         3. Angeles City: It’s a bustling urban area. The Walking Street in Angeles City is famous for its bars and entertainment. Many golf buddy trips choose this area as their base.

Indonesia:

Indonesia, known for its stunning beaches, vibrant culture, and lush landscapes, offers various areas for golf tours. Bali has to be at the top of your list.
